The soils are deep and loose, formed on tertiary-age lake sediments dominated by crystalline schists. Quartz fragments of various sizes are found throughout the profile. The soil is medium-skeletal, loamy in texture, well-drained, and well aerated, with low humus content (1–1.5%). Its reddish color comes from iron oxides. The schists and quartz pieces reflect light and retain heat. Their soft structure allows the roots to reach deep into the soil in search of water and minerals, even in dry conditions. This type of soil, together with the specific mesoclimate, provides ideal conditions for producing high-quality grapes and authentic wines.
